Donor cows or heifers are the starting point for the production of embryos. Cross Country Genetics builds a relationship with an operation to aid in donor selection, scheduling, stimulation protocols and long-term goals. Donors are unique individuals and while they are often discussed as groups, they require individual evaluations, schedules and follow-up. The breed, age, reproductive status, body condition and prior history all play a critical role in donor success.
Cross Country Genetics provides donor housing at all of our clinic locations. This provides our veterinarians and donor managers with the opportunity to learn more about the reproductive cycle and performance of the donor. This hands-on approach allows for more precise management, reduces the risk of stimulation failure, and enables advanced management strategies that are not always feasible on the farm.
