Cross Country Genetics utilizes ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis to determine fetal age and gender. This evaluation is an important step to determine the success of a reproductive program. When this process is performed prior to 110 days of pregnancy there is the opportunity to gauge success of the ET or AI program. This allows for time to make management changes to a breeding program to increase success the following season.

Pregnancy Diagnosis
Main Methods of Pregnancy Diagnosis
1. Rectal Palpation
Performed around 35-45 days post-transfer. Veterinarians feel the uterus to check for signs of pregnancy and determine age and stage of development.
2. Ultrasound Technology
This method can be used as early as 30 days post-transfer. With this method, our licensed veterinarians use a probe that emits sound waves to create an image of the uterus and developing fetus. Can confirm pregnancy earlier and provide more information such as fetal sex and age.
